Brace yourself for the first episode of my humorous new audio column, Sharp Pains, which launches on RTHK Radio 3‘s 123 Show Sept 29! The series will also feature actor Philippe Joly voicing the part of ‘Daddy’.

I’m also super-excited to be producing & presenting two new podcast series: Writer Unblocked & Hong Kong Marriage Stories. The former is now in production and the latter in pre-production for next year!

Episode 1 of my Mental Ideas Podcast, a new weekly strand on the fantabulous Noreen Mir‘s 123 Show, aired April 2, 2020 on RTHK Radio 3!

Depression. It’s no laughing matter. Or is it? Why are so many of our best loved comedians depressed? I trance in and out exploring this tragi-hilarious topic with award-winning cartoonist, depressed humorist and best-selling author, the irrepressible Larry Feign: creator of the iconic Lily Wong comic strip published in the South China Morning Post. Larry was the first cartoonist to have a full-page spread in Time Magazine, worked in animation for Walt Disney Studios and is the international best-selling author of 15 comic books and children’s book series The Fart Brothers, which he sensibly writes under the pen name M.D. Whalen because he doesn’t want to be too closely associated with flatulence.

So, Fake News may have had its ‘Brexit Day’ broadcast date rescheduled thrice, thanks to chaos in Westminster, but you can still feast your ears on the Fake News theme! Composed by the incredible Nick Samuel, an artist and a gentleman. It’s been a 3 year labour of love/ hate (mainly hate). But the wait could be nearly over.

FAKE NEWS THEME

All Over Hong Kong…

Lennon Walls and graffiti expressing solidarity and inspirational messages.

Meanwhile In Sai Kung…

After a bracing walk in a category 8 typhoon (compared to Mangkhut, Wipha was for wimps), I eventually came across the Kung’s Lennon Wall.

Subversive, witty and a bold political statement. It’s got to be Banksy.

What Next??

“Would you like peas or beans with your fish fingers tonight? Love, Mum x”

“Don’t forget to pick up dog food! Love, The Dog x”

“I’m throwing away a box of old socks. Does anybody want them? Jane (63G)”

Ok, ok, that last one I lifted straight from the Gem Villa WhatsApp group. Apologies to my neighbor at 63G who wrote it. Incidentally, I did take a look at the socks. They were a bit holey, none matched, and they had clearly never been washed, but I took them home anyway as a peace offering for the dog. (Despite his burgeoning talent as a graffiti artist and sprayed reminders all over Sai Kung, I had once again forgotten to pick up dog food.)

Send your pics of the world’s most uninspiring graffiti (f)art by email to: MissAdventureRTHK@gmail.com. Or why not have a crack at it yourself? All you need is a can of spray paint and unflinching optimism that you will not be extradited to the Mainland to face trial for your unspeakable crimes against The Art World.

“Gone to join the revolution! Can you leave my fish fingers in the oven, Mum, and pick up dog food for my babe? Love, Missy x”

Miss Adventure (Sadie Kaye)
#Free Sai Kung! #RTHK’s Miss Adventure #香港電台冒險小姐

Miss Adventure is writing & recording her first sitcom, Meet The New Parents. New parents Mr. & Mrs. Sharpe-Payne (played by Miss Adventure’s dastardly alter-ego Sadie Kaye and Philippe Joly) are struggling to cope with the pressures of parenthood, going to increasingly absurd and criminal lengths to keep their baby twins, who have only just got off, from waking…

In 2017 Radio Sadie began producing & ‘co-presenting’ (as herself and Miss Adventure) a one-hour comedy podcast, Fake News. The mockumentary sees shambolic presenter Miss Adventure embark on an unlikely adventure in the USA with US President Donald Trump and the t*t he’s referred to as “Mr. Brexit”, Nigel Farage. The podcast will air on ‘Brexit Day’. (March 29, 2018, May 31, 2018April 1, 2019Oct 31, 2019? Jan 31, 2020) Stay tuned for teasers!
