Sharp Pains

I take a sideways look at life, love and parenthood in my skewed humour column for RTHK Radio 3Sharp Pains. The series inspired goofy columns in the South China Morning Post, including my ‘3 Terrifying Short Stories‘, published in the festive edition of Post Magazine Dec 2021.

Sharp Pains was shortlisted for Best Regularly Scheduled Comedy Program by the 2022 New York Festivals Radio Awards. The Bake Fail episode was nominated for ‘Moment of Comedy Gold‘ by the 2022 International Women’s Podcast Awards in London and chosen by the 2022 On Air Fest in Brooklyn, New York as one of their Official Selects. It was published as A Piece of Cake by the SCMP in April 2022.

The columns inspired short stories for anthologies After the Storm, launched at the 2021 Hong Kong International Literary Festival, and Imprint 21, launching at the FCC on International Women’s Day (March 9) as part of the 2023 Hong Kong International Literary Festival. In Dec 2022 Sharp Pains was long-listed by Farrago Books for Helen Lederer‘s 2022-2023 Comedy Women in Print Prize for witty women writers. (Shortlist TBA Feb 23!)

Since 2022 Sharp Pains has also been growing an unlikely new audience of poetry fans on the Voice Your Passion channel on YouTube!
